Live Scoring
Yes, live scoring! A few of us have been looking at free live scoring apps and we’ve chosen ScoreLynx as the app to use. To use it, download ScoreLynx on your phone and set up a profile. After you do that, click to start a new game and enter “JA Classic” as the group name. Feel free to do some experimenting…tech support will be on the course before the tournament if you have questions.
The Games within the Game:
In addition to competing for the overall tournament title and the prestigious trophy (and even more important bragging rights), the following games will be on the course:
Win Your Group
Pretty straightforward. Beat the team you’re playing with and win two drink tokens per golfer after the round. Lose and you get nothing. Tie and you each get a token. (Glenn, Roger, Chris…since you’re the three-man team and don’t have another group in your tee time, you’ll each get a token at the end of the round.) This game is included in your entry fee.
Skins
Optional game, costs $20 per team to be in. If you beat everyone on a particular hole, you get a skin. Value of the skins will be determined by the total amount in the skins pot divided by the total number of skins. With 11 groups, I’m expecting very few skins which means the skins could be quite lucrative!
The Hole in One Pot
This is an optional game and is new for this year’s tournament. For $5 you’ll be eligible to win the hole in one pot if you card an ace during the tourney. If no one does (and no one has yet) the pot carries over to next year, and the next, and the next…until someone gets one.
The Eagle Club
If your team makes eagle on a hole, you’ll receive a commemorative plastic cup (just like in the Masters, except they get crystal goblets).
Flag Prizes
The following holes will have flag prizes on them:
Hole 5: Closest in 2 (person hitting the second shot writes their name on the sign)
Hole 9: Closest to the hole from the tee
Hole 14: Longest drive in the fairway (everyone will hit from the WHITE tees on this hole)
Hole 18: Longest made putt
